Cowichan Bay:
Traveling by car2>
Whether coming south from Nanaimo or north from Victoria, the exits from the Island highway are all clearly marked.
From Victoria:
1. Start out going north on Douglas Street/Provincial Route 1/ Trans Canada Hwy. Continue to follow Provincial Route #1 N for 48 kilometers (30 miles).
2. Turn right onto Cowichan Bay Rd. and continue for about 10 minutes through the countryside and farmland before reaching the village of Cowichan Bay.
From Nanaimo:
1. Follow Provincial Route 1 S/ Trans Canada Hwy S for 55 kilometers (35 miles) heading south.
2. Turn left onto Koksilah Rd.
3. Turn left onto Cowichan Bay Rd and continue for about 10 minutes through the countryside and farmland before reaching the village of Cowichan Bay.
Traveling by boat
Boaters arriving from the United States are required to check in with Canada Customs and Immigration after crossing the International Boundary. This can be done at Bedwell Harbour on South Pender Island, Sidney, or Victoria.
Traveling by Float Plane
Float planes can be chartered into Cowichan Bay from Vancouver or Seattle, but there are no scheduled flights to the Bay.
Traveling by train
Cowichan Bay can also be reached by rail, taking the morning train from Victoria north or the afternoon train from Nanaimo south. The three local stations (which are all about 15 minutes away from Cowichan Bay) are Duncan, Cowichan Station, and Cobble Hill.
