Spend the day walking downtown Victoria, wondering around Wharf, Government and Douglas Streets and the connecting roads and alley-ways. Venture to one of the more popular alleys in the summer, Artist Alley. Artist Alley is lined with west coast artists extending over 2 blocks. It is a treat to wonder through the atrium-like alley with a good cup of java from one of the nearby coffee houses.
Downtown Victoria is remembered in its buildings and heritage. Looking in from the Inner Harbour of Victoria, the coastline of the city is decorated with old English architectural buildings spreading inland and stretching out along the shoreline. Many of these old buildings house a wide assortment of retail shops, coffee houses, book stores, art galleries and patio restaurants.
The roads of Downtown Victoria work they way back and forth from the Inner Harbour where there is a marina, floatplanes, a walkway, more shops, attractions and the Parliament Buildings. Victoria is very dynamic with theatre houses, dance clubs, pubs, art gallery showings, movie houses and much more to keep you busy in the evenings.
